Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide a safe nurturing educational environment that merges academic experiences with opportunities for social, physical, sensory, and intellectual growth. Our vision is to provide quality education using Montessori methodology to prepare children for early school success and to encourage them to become curious, self-directed, life-long learners. In our school, teachers provide individualized instruction based on observation and understanding of each child’s learning style and ability. We encourage development of the whole child through experiences that cultivate independent thinking, creative problem solving, self-awareness, empathy for others, and environmental awareness.

History

Willow Creek Montessori (aka Montessori of Willowcreek) was originally owned and founded by Kid Ed Inc. as a non-denominational school in 1977 with the opening of the first school by the Widmer family, in a remodeled home on Fort Union Boulevard in Cottonwood Heights.  At that time, their school was only the third Montessori school in Utah.  Demand for their education program grew resulting in construction of the Willow Creek Montessori school, on an acre site at 7839 S.Highland Dr. This site was built and designed for young children with Montessori schooling in mind.  The building features safe and secure entry into open and free flowing classrooms with natural lighting that illuminates the classroom. In June of 2016, the Widmer family retired to seek out new life adventures and ownership was transferred to the Parenti family.  The Parenti family comes with years of experience in early education and aims to continue the Widmer’s legacy that has provided and will continue to provide high quality Montessori education in a fun, safe, and nurturing environment.
